Sorry Guido, I thought I had sent a screen shot with the shaft/face showing but evidently not. It’s a very simple extruded round on a planar face so it’s not that big of a problem. I was just curious if there might be a better way than what I came up with. Thanks for your suggestions though. I guess I’m still unclear about how SolidJott “uploads” work. I need to get that figured out.

This might be a dumb question. I’m looking at a sample assembly file given to me by a customer. While in the assembly, I made a section view and clicked the green check mark in the SectionView Property Manager.
Now my assembly is visually sliced away so I can look inside. Next I wanted to move the slicing plane of the section view to a different place. Can I reopen the SectionView Property Manager while still in a section view? It seems I have to cancel the existing section view and start over. I guess I never tried this before. Hope this makes sense. -

I’m having trouble with a design library part that I’ve been working on for a couple days. I just started introducing myself to the design library as a productivity increasing tool, and I see plenty of potential in it. I work for a company that has hundreds of different proprietary tapered (and non-tapered) threads. My boss likes to see these threads modeled in detail to provide to customers, and this gets rather tedious and can be time consuming when it is needed on short notice. I have managed to get one of our threads to work as a library feature and planned on adding configurations to it. I’ve zipped the library file and attached it, and I need help with Cut-Revolve2, which terminates the thread. This library feature works magically as long as I’m using it on the end of the tube that’s coincident to the right plane. If I try to place it at the opposite end of the tube, the revolution axis of the cut flips to the opposite side of where it’s dimensioned. This makes the profile cut through the part toward the O.D. instead of toward the I.D. Should I perform this cut as a sweep around a circular path?

I am looking to create a 3 way pipe weldment, which for the most part is easy to get. Where the difficulties come in is trying to get the proper angles for each cut and the rotation for each cut.
If one thinks of a railing that comes to a corner that is joined by two other rails, getting the consruction documents to communicate to the shop floor to let them know is also another task.
I am sure that someone out there has run into this, but as of yet, I’ve not been able to find a true solution. Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,

How can I add a custom size thread to my hole wizard? Running SW 09 sp3 standard. Also is there a way to copy the Standard ansi file to make my own custom file?
Thanks -
Am I losing it? I thought if you pre-select two planes or planar surfaces and select Normal To in the Orientation box, one face would be parallel to the screen and the other would be horizontal. I’m not getting that. One is parallel but the other is still on some angle. This file came from a customer and I don’t want to Move the part because it is drawn in “car position”.

Firtst time working with configurations. Created model and added design table to create 4 different configurations. Now that I’m making my drawing how can I associate a separate sheet with each configuration?
Thanks -
teaching myself SW… playing with the tutorials in 2007 sp.0 and did the ‘3d sketching with planes’ tutorial and when i lofted the profiles, SW filled the top circle AND the bottom creating a solid shape. is this a SW issue or did i miss something?

I opened SolidWorks today and the wonderful piece of software decided to change my line and rectangle icon to a no cycle and boxed arc. Look a screen shot. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Is there a way to search the vault by check in date, or last modified date?

Hello,
Our IT guys recently moved our server. Since then there are parts and assemblies that can not be gotten from the vault. I get the following message:
Error retrieving “xxx.xxx” from the server. Do you wish to continue anyway?
What can I try?
