    Feedback…

I have a couple of questions that will help with the development of SolidJott.

This site / application would not be what it is without your participation. So it is critical that I know what you want, like, and need SolidJott to be.

    1. What do you value about SolidJott the most?

    2. What one thing would you change or implement if you had the power to do so?

Thanks in advance to all that respond.
    Ben

Personally, I like it how it is, Ben. You’ve done a good job with it. You know, too, that if I can help out all you have to do is let me know.

    • gol10dr 3:14 pm on May 19, 2009 Permalink

      1) Users helping users is very cool and love the iPhone theme so I can help on the go.
      2) Local interface in SW instead of a browser window. Interface is fine for questions but a bit clunky for upload info. (know some of this is being worked on). Local interface would give a more live feel and more fluid. We did this with our addin and it is much more snappy because of it.
Nice work Ben and let me know how I can help out!

    • dave spencer 4:44 pm on May 19, 2009 Permalink

The thing I value most about solidjott is not having to ask questions. I seem to have this comfortable bubble I work in that does most of what I need. It is reading other peoples questions and the answers, not to mention the top shelf videos Ben produces that show me how much is still outside my bubble waiting for me to learn.

This site is fantastic as a learning tool. It’s not just a help site.

    • CBL 9:49 am on May 20, 2009 Permalink

The biggest draw for me (to all your sites) is the video tutorials. Being able to link them as an answer to questions on other forums is really useful.

      Things I would change/improve:
      1) Implement a dynamic thread ordering (by latest post).
      - and/or -
      2) Incorporate a graphical highlight of threads which have new posts, but have not been viewed.

Overall, I think you’ve done a great job with the site.

I just cut and pasted this text to move the comment to where it needed to be for Guido…. (~Ben)

“If it ain’t fix, don’t broke it”.
Ton of wisdom in an otherwise Red-Neck saying.
Nothing Red-Neck about this site. I think you have rather quickly chiseled it into the class act of all of the bunch of fine sites that we are all priveleged with.
Your Best on the Planet video tutorials are simply the cream on an otherwise Gourmet cake.
      Guido

You will all note that there is a ‘Media’ button at the posting window and at the comment window you can now use to upload pictures and files in the ‘Web View’ template (if you are sending files can you please zip them up to make things work smoother) soon a new SolidWorks addin will be released as well. Enjoy…

    Note:
I see there is a text size issue in the SolidWorks addin for the posts and we are working on it, thanks for your patients

Have you told a friend about SolidJott today? If not go out and let everyone know about it.

If you really like the addin please donate to help develop this into themostfriggincooladdinever status. You can hit the donate button on the right hand side and put in what you think is a good price but I have been asking for the cost of a couple of fancy coffees or 5-10 dollars, not much considering what you get….

    Donate to SolidJott

I have been running this site out of my pocket and for the future developments I will need some funding. If you like what you get please leave a tip. I would recommend  $5 or $10, the cost of a couple of fancy coffees or $20 if you can afford it.  For this nominal tip you get help when you need it where you need it using this addin for SolidWorks So help me fast track additions to this addin by donating what you can. Thank you for your support! Click the Donate button on the side bar to help the community tech support revolution.

      Works fine in full IE7.

Thanks for Whynotdesign3d and Muggs for their donations! Got a ways to go but a great start!

    • Inspirtech 12:48 pm on December 15, 2008 Permalink

It looks like the Donate button just does not work when you are in SolidWorks… it works fine from a web browser.

    • admin 12:49 pm on December 15, 2008 Permalink

One more donation from Inspirtech. If you have not checked out his offering on SolidWorks education I suggest you do!

I welcome all the new users today! Wow! If you like the addin for SolidJott do me a favor and tell any other SolidWorks user you know about it then, the guy in the cubicle next to you, the office over, at the Usergroup meeting, online forums… I think you get the picture. The more people we have the more functional this becomes.

    Here is a download link.

You can always download it from the right hand side of this site under “SolidWorks Addin”

We have been having a problem with the profile pictures uploading properly on everyones profile. I am working on fixing that ASAP but want to keep the tru functionality of posting going first. We will have all your beautiful faces up shortly.

    SolidJott Plugin for SolidWorks !

It’s Here! It’s Here! Raise the Banners and Sound the Trumpets It’s Here!

SolidWorks help when you need it where you need it.

    Screen Capture

The SolidJott plugin for SolidWorks is here. Download this FILE here install and have fun. You will need to create a account here at SolidJott, it is quick and painless, and when you open the addin in SolidWorks you will need to login to post to the SolidJott help center but otherwise you can look around without logging in. Attached is a quick screen capture of what you will be presented with in SolidWorks. Note: Remember to switch the view preferences to ‘SolidWorks View’ on the right hand side of the window when in SolidWorks, if you cannot see the right hand side there is a slider at the bottom of the pane to allow you to scroll over to it.

Here is the premise you need help or can help someone with a SolidWorks problem but switching between windows such as SolidWorks and your email client, to a web form, a word document, or other software to capture the question or to offer a answer can be a painful laborious task. You can quickly loose context in what you are trying to capture in this method. Using SolidJott however you open the sidebar tab, login, and voila! Help while in SolidWorks! without loosing context! You can then communicate with some of the top experts in SolidWorks community right within SolidWorks.

But there’s more… It slices, it dices, it makes julienne fries… Ok maybe not fries just yet but future developments will include A button to send a screen capture to the post and a button to ‘pack and go’ the file(s) you are working on currently and send to post to make things even easier in describing problems or solutions.

This addin will be provided for free to anyone who would like the service.

PLEASE let me use FIREFOX as the browser. My Company will not allow us to use IE too prone to Virus attack). If I can’t use FF then tell me how to UNINSTALL the program !

    • admin 2:18 pm on December 30, 2008 Permalink

No it is currently not an option. When I have enough people that want this functionality I will work on it. Seeing as this is currently a free addin and I finance this out of my own pocket and donations if you want this badly enough donate to the project (on the right column) and if there is enough demand with enough capital generated then I will make it happen

To uninstall double click the exe file a second time and choose ‘uninstall’
