New to photoview 360, is there a way to create a transparent background? Can anyone suggest a good workflow for rendering? IE. should I setup appearances in SW then open in PV360?

I need hardware advice! I am running SolidWorks 2009 SP1 on what is supposed to be a “kick ass” computer. Scratch built by our Presidents son. It contains the following:
Processor: Intel Quad Core 2.4 ghz
    Ram: 2 GB ddr2 (corsair xms2-6400)
    MoBo: MSI PGN Platinum
    VGA: NVidia Quadro FX 4600
    H.D.D: WD 7200 RPM SATA 250GB
    Power Supply: ToughPower 750 watt
    Thermatake Water Cooling
    Windows XP x32
I design Point of Purchase Displays and provide “photo-realistic” renderings to our salesmen. The main issues I have are:
SolidWorks locks up at initial start-up (when I turn my computer on) each morning for 2-4 minutes when I chose the FILE drop down menu and then move my cursor over the list of recently opened files. If I close Solidworks and try again, it works fine. I also cannot render to file above 225 DPI without getting a “cannot obtain required memory message”. Solidworks also applies labels and materials to parts inconsistently. Sometimes you can see them other times you cannot. Lastly, some days, I wait 3-4 seconds between each pull down selection. I feel like I am trying to put out a huge fire but, there is a kink in the hose somewhere. Any advice?
