I want to upload a picture, but loooks like the attached button is not work well today in solidjott. So check here : http://www.mediafire.com/?y2me0tblyzz

You need to adjust the “scale” of the texture. Not all textures have that option as far as I know. You can make the squares bigger so that one square is larger than your part. Or find a texture that blends better.

    • ahmed 12:03 am on October 11, 2009 Permalink

      Hi Dave,

Scale : If I change the scale of the texture then the size of each “hole” will not suitable anymore.

Make bigger square : The problem is the real object I got from digital camera. The object is small.

I believe there is a specific technique to get the correct texture.

BTW, Is Rob joint Solidjott ?

      Thanks !

If you need this texture at this scale, it sounds like your best solution would be to import it into photoshop or similar and adjust the colours and crop so it blends better.

    Rendering

    thank you for your help, i still have this big list of materials that are not being used; i would like to minimize this list for each configuration. (I have 8 configurations of this an assembly) when i assign a material to one configuration it is also in the other configurations;
is there a way to “suppress” materials, lighting, backgrounds ect.?

    • MarkKaiser 9:34 am on December 22, 2008 Permalink

Materials are config specific also. I’m assuming you need your parts of your assembly to have different materials. Open each part and make a new config for each material you need, assign materials to each config, build your assemblies off of this.

Easier way anyone? Probably a good design table candidate, Is material available for design tables, I couldn’t find it?

    • aspenf 10:38 am on December 22, 2008 Permalink

I think a design table would be much easier to change. Thank you I’ll try it.

Check the following thread on SW discussion forum.

      https://forum.solidworks.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=15300&enterthread=y

You have to do some work to change the material via a DT, and I’m still not sure if it will change the PW properties of that material. You may have to go in manually and do it thru the feature manager tree.

Is there a way i can make a configuration(s) of my rendering?

    • MadMatt32171 8:45 am on December 22, 2008 Permalink

Appearances are configuration specific – when you edit an appearance, down towards the bottom of the color/image tab is the configurations section where you can specify which configs that appearance appears in.

Problems with photoworks 2008 Scenes..noticed in Advanced tutorial first. Textures mapped to walls and floor change scale and rotation randomly when I go in and change any Scene parameter. Floor offset changes with a second render of the same scene. Offset value in dialogue is still zero but table and chair (tutorial for example) float above the floor. Textures don’t show unless I go into Basic Mapping and ensure mapping is Planar. All very weird. Thanks for any help.

First is RealView turned on or off and do you switch at any point in time? Also are you using PhotoWorks?

    • SolidSkater 3:58 pm on November 24, 2008 Permalink

      Hi Ben,
using Photoworks with RealView on constantly. Solidworks Support said to install Certified Video Driver. Did not help.

What video card are you using? Is there any known issues with it?

    • SolidSkater 4:13 pm on November 24, 2008 Permalink

nVidia Quadro FX 1700 with the correct (***.6262)driver(not the latest). It seems to be a card promoted for SolidWorks. Not just my PC. Same behaviour on a collleagues identical PC as well.

Video anomalies are frustrating. Are you seeing other graphical problems when you use SW2008? Odd rotation or zooming issues? These are usually good signs of driver problems. If it is just doing it with rendering, what operating system are you running? Have seen some issues with rendering when larger background processes or programs are running as well. Just problems when rendering scenes. Parts take textures fine. It is the room for ‘scenes’ that is screwy. XP professional is the OS. Will play with it for a few more days. Thanks.

Have you tried setting your options to software opengl and seeing of the render works?

I have uploaded the screenshots Greg had sent me prior to posting. They give an idea of what he's encountering.

      hi gol10dr,
How do I set my options to software OpenGL as you suggested? Thanks.

Just turn hardware accelleration to 'None' right?

    • SolidSkater 2:36 pm on November 26, 2008 Permalink

Did not help. Still the same exact problems.

    • Chris Serran 6:50 am on November 27, 2008 Permalink

To set software OpenGL close all documents in SW. Go to Tools -> Options -> Performance and down at the bottom is the option to turn on/off OpenGL.
If you don't have all documents closed this option is greyed out.
