    Hi al,

    I have been trying to create a working energy chain within an assembly model. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions on how to maintain the correct radius of the chain when moving the assembly it is mated to.

    Learned something great today at the SolidWorks forums. I have struggled with how to easily break merged points in a sketch. i.e. circle center is merged at the end point of a line and you cannot seem to find the relation to delete the mate… From the forums at this link :

    Yes, the points have merged just as if they were the ends of two lines. There is a drag mode that allows you to break them apart:

    Tools -> Sketch Settings -> Detach Segment on Drag

    This should allow you to drag the line or the circle edge and separate the points. ~Thanks Andy Frasier you have just saved me some more frustration!

    Now if I could only toggle this on and off with a keyboard key…
