    eDrawings

I use SW office Professional 2008 and don’t know how to enable the dimension facillity of eDrawings. Can some-one help?

When you save as eDrawings you can find a Options-button in the left bottom corner of the save-screen. Here you can define your Export Options.

When saving a SW file to an eDrawing format, there is an option to allow/enable the measure function.

I’m using 3D annotations to place an angular dimension in an assembly to monitor the angle between two components. currently when I place the dimension i am getting the compliment of the angle that I want (exp i want it to display 30deg and it is displaying 150deg). Is there any way to change the display of the angular dimension? I have not found it in the options

Have you tried hitting the tab key when placing the dimension? Or after it is placed right clicking and seeing if there are any options? Right click and choose dimension properties see what is in there, Last thing to test is the selection order i.e. if you selected clock wise try counter clock wise or even end points vs lines….. Just taking a stab at it without SW

How do you combine multiple dimension values on a drawing? I have drawn a hole, not using the SW tool, and now want to show the dimensions of that hole in the drawing. There is a main bore through and countersink diameter to a depth. I would like to show all of these dimensions in a single dimension.

You cannot combine multiple dimensions into one dimension, but you can link multiple dimensions into a note.

You can also use the Hole Callout tool. Selecting the edge of the bore will produce a callout of just the bore size. Selecting the edge of the chamfer will give both bore and chamfer sizes.

I used a note as suggested above by CBL. Not the greatest solution, but better than the Hole Callout tool.

I have a 3D sketch in an assembly with a line at a compound angle relative to the primary planes and two additional projections lines starting at the first point of the line. 1 representing the Z direction, the other representing the projection on to the XZ plane of the compound angle line. I want to create assembly annotation dimensions between the lines to show the projected angles and the true angle. When I create the dimensions (annotation) I am given an angle of 177deg. I want it to display 3deg instead. Is there any way to change this display?

Are you in a drawing? If you are when you click on the annotation / dimension you will find that on the left you have a dialog in the property manager that will allow you to change the text. It will no longer be parametric though.

No, I’m in an assembly using the standard dimension tool which creates dimensions as “annotations”. I know I can override the value but this sketch is parametric and I need it to update and show the updated angles automatically. I already have the dimensions in the 3D sketch but can’t get them to show all the time. If that is possible it would be a solution for me. Any ideas?

      Thanks for the comment

When in the assembly, right click on the Annotations folder and select “Show Feature Dimensions”. This will show the dimensions from the 3D sketch, unfortunately it will show all the dimensions from the other parts as well.

      Thanks Chris!

This is exactly what I needed. Since it is in an assembly, this is the only “feature” and thus they are the only dims that show up.

      Thanks!
