I have had very little experience in ProE so I could not tell you. I believe Matt Lombard has covered this in his blog at http://DezignStuff.com/blog and you should Google this to see what comes up. Ill try and encourage more people to respond to this that have more experience but I cannot promise anything though…

I haven't personally used ProE and cannot comment on it's functionality, but you can refer to bagsas' post on November 25, 2008.
SolidWorks has a great user community who bend over backwards to help other users with potential issues.
Oh, and SolidWorks World is a blast! -

I would say ease of use and price.
Pro/E over SolidWorks?
I would say level of control, and large assembly performance.

There is a lot to consider when trying to decide which CAD program you want to focus on. Are you wanting to get a job with a major corporation with facilities around the world, or a small to mid size company? I have found that companies like Caterpillar and Graco exclusivly use ProE, and I have also heard that a lot of other ProE houses are re-evaluating their ProE use as most of thier vendors and customers use SW as it is a more economical solution for the small to mid size companies. Just my .02.
