Where is the flow xpress addin? I cannot seem to locate it and wonder if I need to get out my disks to get it on the addin menu or is it a part of the solidworks simulation addin?

So while we are installing the new SolidJott addin ( what you dont know about it? go here: http://solidjott.com/solidjott-201a-public-beta/2009/06/16/ ) you should go and see what the other side is doing at ProJott. As the newest Jott network I would hope that you spend some time checking out what ProEngineer is doing and holding SolidWorks to task on why they do not have feature ‘x’. This will be a great way to drive improvements for both CAD packages. http://ProJott.com

Errors with SolidJott addin. Sorry folks, we at SolidJott were not expecting the curve ball that Internet explorer has thrown us with their updates and new security measures. We are working dilligently on fixing the errors and will have a new addin and fix shortly. I do appologize for the inconvinience and hope that you will bear with us during the growing pains.

Have you told a friend about SolidJott today? If not go out and let everyone know about it.

If you really like the addin please donate to help develop this into themostfriggincooladdinever status. You can hit the donate button on the right hand side and put in what you think is a good price but I have been asking for the cost of a couple of fancy coffees or 5-10 dollars, not much considering what you get….

    Donate to SolidJott

I have been running this site out of my pocket and for the future developments I will need some funding. If you like what you get please leave a tip. I would recommend  $5 or $10, the cost of a couple of fancy coffees or $20 if you can afford it.  For this nominal tip you get help when you need it where you need it using this addin for SolidWorks So help me fast track additions to this addin by donating what you can. Thank you for your support! Click the Donate button on the side bar to help the community tech support revolution.

    • Inspirtech 12:48 pm on December 15, 2008 Permalink

It looks like the Donate button just does not work when you are in SolidWorks… it works fine from a web browser.

    • admin 12:49 pm on December 15, 2008 Permalink

One more donation from Inspirtech. If you have not checked out his offering on SolidWorks education I suggest you do!

If you like the addin for SolidJott do me a favor and tell any other SolidWorks user you know about it then, the guy in the cubicle next to you, the office over, at the Usergroup meeting, online forums… I think you get the picture. The more people we have the more functional this becomes.

    Here is a download link.

You can always download it from the right hand side of this site under “SolidWorks Addin”

We have been having a problem with the profile pictures uploading properly on everyones profile. I am working on fixing that ASAP but want to keep the tru functionality of posting going first. We will have all your beautiful faces up shortly.

How do we create a plug-in such as this, so that we can go to our internal resources? We would like to link to our standards, PLM help and our own community.

Thanks for all that you do in the blogosphere.

What I have done in the past is enabled the Web toolbar. You can than copy the link to whichever folders or documents you want and paste them in there.
It’s a workaround if you don’t know how to program something like the SolidJott addin.
The only drawback is I believe you’re only limited to 5 or 6 addresses.

    • admin 8:15 am on December 15, 2008 Permalink

Contact me Doug and possibly we can do this for you. Ben@SolidJott.com

I would be more than happy to work with you to develope a simular tool like the one I did for SolidJott. I am currently working on tools that link to SharePoint, Made2Manage and SAP.

John looks like you will be able to get some more work from your outstanding efforts here at SolidJott.

I HIGHLY recommend John for his hard work….

Thanks for the replies. We still have to get ourselves organized as to what we are going to link to. Once we know what we want we will get with you to see what we can can get accomplished.

    SolidJott Plugin for SolidWorks !

It’s Here! It’s Here! Raise the Banners and Sound the Trumpets It’s Here!

SolidWorks help when you need it where you need it.

    Screen Capture

The SolidJott plugin for SolidWorks is here. Download this FILE here install and have fun. You will need to create a account here at SolidJott, it is quick and painless, and when you open the addin in SolidWorks you will need to login to post to the SolidJott help center but otherwise you can look around without logging in. Attached is a quick screen capture of what you will be presented with in SolidWorks. Note: Remember to switch the view preferences to ‘SolidWorks View’ on the right hand side of the window when in SolidWorks, if you cannot see the right hand side there is a slider at the bottom of the pane to allow you to scroll over to it.

Here is the premise you need help or can help someone with a SolidWorks problem but switching between windows such as SolidWorks and your email client, to a web form, a word document, or other software to capture the question or to offer a answer can be a painful laborious task. You can quickly loose context in what you are trying to capture in this method. Using SolidJott however you open the sidebar tab, login, and voila! Help while in SolidWorks! without loosing context! You can then communicate with some of the top experts in SolidWorks community right within SolidWorks.

But there’s more… It slices, it dices, it makes julienne fries… Ok maybe not fries just yet but future developments will include A button to send a screen capture to the post and a button to ‘pack and go’ the file(s) you are working on currently and send to post to make things even easier in describing problems or solutions.

This addin will be provided for free to anyone who would like the service.

PLEASE let me use FIREFOX as the browser. My Company will not allow us to use IE too prone to Virus attack). If I can’t use FF then tell me how to UNINSTALL the program !

    • admin 2:18 pm on December 30, 2008 Permalink

No it is currently not an option. When I have enough people that want this functionality I will work on it. Seeing as this is currently a free addin and I finance this out of my own pocket and donations if you want this badly enough donate to the project (on the right column) and if there is enough demand with enough capital generated then I will make it happen

To uninstall double click the exe file a second time and choose ‘uninstall’

Web view and SolidWorks view. To all of you wondering why the site looks really poorly laid out. There are two views one for the Web and one for when the SolidWorks addin comes out. If you look to the right side bar you will see “View Preferences” choose Web View for your browser and it should default to that next time you come here and soon you will be choosing SolidWorks view when you get my whizzy addin for this site :)

Does anyone know of a “High Level” Add-in Render engine for swx 2009?
Right now I export to Rhino and use Vray.

    • Chris Serran 6:25 am on December 7, 2008 Permalink

SolidWorks has Photoworks Add-in with SW Professional and above. There is also Photoview 360 which is a stand alone program shipped with SW Professional and above.

    • Jason Corl 2:00 pm on December 7, 2008 Permalink

Probably the best out there right now is Bunkspeed Hypershot. They have a special SWX edition.

    • Mudslung 5:51 pm on December 7, 2008 Permalink

Thanks Jason, I’ll have to check them out.

    • solidsmack 7:17 am on December 8, 2008 Permalink
