If someone would take a look at the enclosed screen-shot of my v2007 Solidworks and give me a clue as to why that no matter what I do I am unable to get temp axis or perm axis to be visual, I would appreciate it. I do not have this grief in v 2009.

Your image only shows the Temp Axes selected. The permanent axes would need the View > Axes option to be selected.
The temp axes does not show for a spring in my install of SW09-SP4.1.
Actually, I don’t remember a spring ever having a temp axis.

CBL,
Thanks for your response.
For some reason even View>Axes doesn’t show the axis. Weird… I have assembled many springs into many holes in the last few years, without grief.

Can you ZIP and post the actual SW file?

Are you running SW07 on the same machine as SW09?
Video card and driver?

No, 09 and 07 are on separate machines. This machine, which is a desktop. that is in question, has an Invidia Quadro card, and it is a SWX approved card for using Real View. Real view works fine. I don’t get either axis to show whether it is toggled on or not. The machine that works ok is a notebook , with 2009 installed and i do not have a card suitable for real-view on it, but the axes show ok.

Also, I am running the latest driver for the Quadro card.

Did you post the correct model? The spring you posted does not show a permanent axis in the FM.
guido 9:07 am on September 17, 2009 Permalink
That is one of the part files, here is the assembly file.Attachment – spring-asbl

You forgot to ZIP in the parts with that assy. And there was still no sign of a permanent axis in the assy.
Are you sure you created the axis in the SW2007 parts and/or assy?
guido 10:53 am on September 17, 2009 Permalink
No, I did not actually create an axis, I rely on the temp axis that is created by Solidworks. Here are both part files. If I have to do that on this version, I guess I will have to. What is strange is that I have been using temp axes for quite some time. Every hole and everything cylindrical created should have one.Attachment – parts

Every hole and cylinder does have a temporary axis but, unfortunately, the spring example is neither. A permanent axis has to be created using two reference planes, or the helix creation plane and its sketched circle center point.
