Greetings,
I’m trying to model a roller chain sprocket from a tutorial at http://www.robo-works.net/Mechanics/week%203/day%201/draw_sprocket.pdf. So far, every equation that I’ve tried to enter into the SolidWorks Equation Editor either returns the message, “The syntax of this equation is incorrect” or a “!” Can anyone please help me with how to determine the syntax for such equations, that SolidWorks will recognize? I’m using SolidWorks Premium 2009 SP0.0, and I don’t have a subscription.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Gary Skinner

Can you send a screen shot or cut and paste an example formula here for us to diagnose?

Hi Ben,
Thank you for replying. I apologize for being this long in replying to you. I’ve found the solutions that I needed. There was a problem or two with my syntax, and all three internet sources that I referenced, omitted a figure from one of the equations; which I found in the Machinery’s Handbook. Now I’m playing around with modeling a worm gear (apparently also called a worm wheel) and a worm (apparently also called a worm gear); so you may be “hearing” from me again.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Gary Skinner
