Greetings all,
I am currently pursuing my MSc. and part of my reserach is tio develop a mobile robot. As such i am designing a drive train which requires me to model spur gears and bevel gears. I am having difficulties in building/ generating bevel gears. Can someone show me how to draw bevel gears on Solidworks ‘07. I am a beginner with the software.
Thanks & looking fwd to get some quick help. Engr.Mureli ( Penang, Malaysia)

I would look to see if you can find a program called MechSoft for Solidworks. The last version I think was made in 2004 but it still works in all versions up to 2009.
I believe it was bought by Autodesk and is no longer made for SW but it allows you to create many different types of gears including spur and worm gears by entering data in a dialog box then it will generate a fully parametric model based on that data.
Good luck.

Google 'MITcalc' as well this is another program that interfaces with SolidWorks and can do what you want.

You can try http://www.3dcontentcentral.com.
Toolbox also has power transmission models. Toolbox is an add-in to SolidWorks.

GearTrax from http://www.camnetics.com/geartrax/index.htm is another good program.
