    Hi,
Please I need help support regarding balloons distribution in a large assembly. This large assembly it has same subassemblies parts fasteners etc, etc. So on the first and second sheet I would like to set only the balloons for all subassemblies, than on the next sheet the rest of all components, there is a chance to resolve this problem in SW 2012 premium version, or there is same method which give me permission to control very accurate what balloons I would like to appear on specific sheet or there is same method which give me permission to select from feature tree the subassembly and the balloon to appear on the right sheet the same for parts, I need something to control which geometry from assembly represent same subassemblies for select the correspondent balloon. Have a wonderful weekend and day too.

for Example in ProE WF 2-4 : there are some possibilities to control the arrangement for balloons such as, set the subassembly in feature tree or direct in drawing on BILL OF MATERIAL set the subassembly in row and you have in view in drwg the highlights of that subassembly or part, so this give you the permission to control where and how to appear the balloon where is more practical, other nice thing it is when you select a subassembly or a part in drawing view appear a small ticket information’s by the mouse or in the text info the name of that subassembly or part and you can control the arrangement of that balloon by view sheet etc etc. Please help me it is important. Thanks I appreciate

    • Ben 11:21 am on May 8, 2012 Permalink

Go into ( system options-document properties under that look for detailing-balloons) and under balloon text choose ‘text’

Its a very open ended question that is terribly hard to answer. But I had a crack at it

    • salbu 3:26 pm on November 24, 2011 Permalink

I’m sorry it is not my intention to give you hard time I will try to be more simple.
1- I have an Assembly old one and I will use Save with Pack and Go using a different name for creating other new Assembly. On the new assembly I will change same subassembly, I will create other new parts, on the end I must introduce the parameters for all new modifications these parameters have name such us Description, Material, Check by, Drawn by, Project, Customer, etc, etc, and will be introduce using the menu file /property /summary information. My question is- there are other procedure for introduce these parameters faster such as copy paste, or Excel, Notepad, Word, or other type of soft update especially for this job.
Second I try to use copy paste but in the menu file /property /summary information for same data and I was surprised is not working, so my idea was to find what type of font text and style they use in this menu for data may be like that I will can transfer from word format same data fast inside. So how can I know what style and font for text SW use in the menu file /property /summary information for introduce data there regarding parameters. Thank you.

    • Ben 11:10 am on November 25, 2011 Permalink

      Ah! got it.
      1. Yes there is a inexpensive tool out there that I HIGHLY recommend for this. The custom property propagartor at http://www.customsolids.com/Propa-Gator.htm
      2. Welcome to SolidWorks coders lack of attention to detail, and them not caring. You can make this stuff work but to be honest it is really flakey so please dont even bother trying and bitch to your reseller about it to get SW off their ass to fix this problem that has existed forever. From what I recall you cannot change the font SW uses in the custom properties but look in help with the keywords ‘font and table’.

In general for END CAP’s what parameters are necessary to show in the CUT LIST table? (when the END CAP is part of Weldment part); I worked one WELDMENT exercise and there I sow for the END CAP appear in CUT LIST respective in CUT LIST TABLE only Thickness parameter. So my question is if the END CAP can be square or Rectangle like shape with a thickness, if it is necessary how I will introduce the Length and Wide like parameters in CUT LIST Properties to appear in CUT LIST TABLE, too. Thank you so much.

    • ws2 9:01 pm on November 15, 2011 Permalink

Make sure to update the cut list in your feature manager design tree, then expand the cut list and add your end cap properties manually. They will then show in the cut list.

    • salbu 8:06 pm on November 16, 2011 Permalink

So to create on the Cut List/ Properties two parameters Lenght and Wide only for End Cap…
      it is ok like that, and these will appear on the Cut List Table on the Drawing Level… thank you;

    Hi,
I work in a huge assembly revision from old one, I have a lot of data parametrical to introduce to each asm subasm prt drw sheet etc etc…to the menu file /property /summary information….Please tell me it is possible other fast way to introduce these parametrical data many are the same it is repetition take too much time consuming….other way using word Excel may be Notepad other text editor that work inside in SW OR other method for fast introduce these data parametrical other soft compatible with SW special create for this or use for this type of data?! Thank you so much I appreciate.
Or What chance I have to know the font size and style on the text on these data parameters from Property for creating in Word the same text after that using copy /paste in SW menu.Thank you.

    • Ben 8:51 am on November 24, 2011 Permalink

I want to say no there is no quick way, however there is so much ambiguity here it is hard to say. This is the kind of question that one would need to see the data you are working with to figure it out.

I am not sure what you are asking for the second question but you can always change the font by highlighting the text and changing the font as per instructions you will find in the help menu or google by asking how to change the font.

    • CBL 11:20 am on November 24, 2011 Permalink

Sorry Salbu, I read you question several times and could not make any sense of it. I don’t know what your native language is, but this may be a case where asking the question in your native language and allowing us to translate via Google may be a better option.

    Hi,

1- Can I split the dxf or dwg multiple sheet in individual sheet? but,

Anybody can help or I will move these questions in stupid box??!!
      Thanks,

    • CBL 7:34 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink

      Both can be done manually.
Both *might* be accomplished with an API macro

    • salbu 7:39 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink

Thank you, please do you can help me with more details informations or example.
      Best.

    • Ben 6:56 pm on October 20, 2011 Permalink

Creating a macro would likely take too long. Cut and paste everything is your best option

    • CBL 6:30 am on October 21, 2011 Permalink

Make as many copies of the drawing as there are sheets, then for each copy delete what is not needed

    • salbu 8:30 am on October 21, 2011 Permalink

Thank you for solutions.Meantime I find other solution (a compromise one -a combination SW drw file to dxf or dwg file) I could use save as like a dxf or dwg file and on the options I set individual sheet and this help a lot. Practical I transform multiple SW drw files in individual dxf or dwg sheet files. Thank you.

Ben please tell me what is the best edition of the Surface Bible by Matt Lombard, 2011, 2010, 2009 or 2008?
    Thank you so much.

    • Ben 10:24 am on October 3, 2011 Permalink

If you use SW 2008 then the 2008 book
If you use SW 2009 then the 2009 book
If you use SW 2010 then the 2010 book
If you use SW 2011 then the 2011 book.

If you are going to upgrade anytime soon from one version to the next then choose the version you are moving to, and understand that some things (very very few) will have changed but you should be able to use the book in the prior version anyhow

      Hope that helps.

    • salbu 12:13 pm on October 3, 2011 Permalink

      I will rewrite so,
What is the Best edition of the Surface Bible by Matt Lombard, between 2011, 2010, 2009 or 2008?
      …in your opinion? Thank you.

    • mattl 7:28 pm on October 6, 2011 Permalink

There is only one edition of the Surface Bible at this time. It was written for the 2008 software, and is pretty relevant today, because there haven’t been many changes in the software, as far as surfacing and splines go, between 2008 and 2012.

The surface bible was supposed to get rewritten this last summer, but the publisher’s plans didn’t mesh with mine, so it is on hold for now. If you are interested in the topic, go buy the book. It’s the only book on SolidWorks that contains that level of info on surfacing – 460 pages in color, with downloadable files, with nice examples.

    Hi,
I have a project with 50 sheets I would like to know if in SW 2010 Premium version has the possibility to show in the drawing in automatically mode, a table where I can find the sheet number and for every sheet the correspondent details like a short description in this way can be very easy to search same parts or subassembly in this project on the drwg level.
No crt Description and Detail Sheet Number
    01 asm 1234567 1
    02 subasm 1234567_01 2
    03 subasm 1234567_02 3

Or a tools something similar if this settings exist please help with detail for creating it. Second the same idea but inside of the table to find the sections view and details view like location correspondent to every sheet and location on the sheet conform grid format sheet ex: D5 H8
No crt SECTION VIEW OR DETAIL VIEW SHEET NUMBER LOCATION ON SHEET
    01 SECTION VIEW A-A 1 D5 H8
    02 DETAIL VIEW C 2 F5 G9
    03 SECTION VIEW C-C 3 C5 D7

Thank you so much. I really appreciate.
    Best,
    Sorin,

Have you looked at SolidWorks explorer? It is another program that comes with SolidWorks. It will be under Start-Programs-SolidWorks(your version number)-SolidWorks Explorer

This will do all you need it to. However it will not create the drawing you need. You could possibly do that via a drawing and custom properties and a table however

    • salbu 4:59 pm on August 31, 2011 Permalink

Thank you, I will try using sw explorer but I’m not so good to programming…anyway I receive from sw service it is not possible sw in this moment has not these options and this is not good because when we work with many sheets it is necessary….Thank you.

    • Ben 9:31 pm on August 31, 2011 Permalink

I dont buy that it is not possible. They are just not thinking creatively. I am 99% sure there is a way. Do you have a PDM system at your work? There are some reporting tools that will make that happen…

    • salbu 7:18 am on September 1, 2011 Permalink

yes PDM Vault, but PDM is only a data base management tools I will dig may be….
      Thank you.

    • Ben 11:04 am on September 1, 2011 Permalink

PDM has reporting tools that will print out a list of all drawings associated with an assembly etc etc… It is not only a database, you can use it for reporting as well
