the properties.txt file in older versions has moved. does anyone know where it is or what it’s called? This is the file that controls the pulldown list of custom properties.

I have the location specified in File Locations, Custom Property Files

I found 2 locations for the files. One didn’t show up on my initial search which is why I asked the question. We have a custom property file that drives our BOM. The new location in SW2009 for the pull down list on the custom property edit tabs is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2009\lang\english. The other file called propNames.txt is located in C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\sldPropertyTabBuilder and is used to control the pull downs in the property tab builder. I think if you want these pulldowns to be consistant both files should be replaced (if applicable)

I am doing a test run on PDM workgroup in SW09. This is my first install of workgroup as we are about to migrate from another PDM system. My issue is that I deleted a folder in the admin screen but when I go to my pdm folder in SW, the folder is still there. Is this a bug or have I missed something? Thanks for the help in advance.

Did you hit ‘Refresh’?

Chris Serran
Refreshing should get rid of that folder.
Out of curiosity, what PDM system are you migrating from? -
Rich Hall
Hit refresh several times, tried logging out and back in etc. to no avail.

SmarTeam, and I’ll leave it at that.

Try restarting the PDM Service on the server but before you do that, go into the VaultAdmin and check the Validate Vault on Every start up.

I haven’t had any issues with loading large assemblies, upwards of 700mb.
Photoview runs out of memory though when trying to render it.

Rich,
I am unaware of any file size limit. But from my experience, you can bring almost any machine to it’s knees depending on file size and render qualtity!

Have you had any luck Rich? Can you upload it for others to try?

My top level model was corrupt somehow. When I moved the parts down a level (just to render) it loaded fine. The rendering was never the problem. PV360 just would not open the file and would CTD every time I tried to open that particular file. I will play with it some more to see what could be causing the issue. We are currently in transition from 2006 to 2009 so this could have something to do with it as some parts are one version and some the later. Thanks for your input

I had the same issues with files older than 2009 so make sure to update all parts. Then it should work fine.
