anyone know why sw09 relies on the printer driver to rotate plots when printing? is there a work around?

I can’t speak for SW, but I imagine it’s because they don’t want to reinvent the wheel. There are so many printers on the market, creating a driver for each would be a huge project. Printer manufacturers create the drivers, so why not use them?

What problems are you having that requires a workaround?

came across an old hp600 for free and decided to bring it home for weekend/personal use. HP driver is ‘lacking’ and the plotter wont rotate/nest two C prints on a 36″ roll as it should be able to do. i agree the driver is usually responsible for rotate/zoom etc, but there are whole host of programs that can do this most basic of functions independent of the driver.

Save as or Print to PDF, and then use Adobe to rotate and combine.

teaching myself SW… playing with the tutorials in 2007 sp.0 and did the ’3d sketching with planes’ tutorial and when i lofted the profiles, SW filled the top circle AND the bottom creating a solid shape. is this a SW issue or did i miss something?

If you just have a single circle in each drawing, it will loft a solid shape. You either need to include an inner wall in your sketches or click “thin feature” when lofting.

thanks man. I just looked at it again and there is a huge difference between the “loft” tool in the surfaces tool bar and the “lofted base/boss” tool in the standard tool bar. that was where i deviated from the tutorial.
