A lot of times when making sheet metal parts setup for laser and cnc brake, or tube laser cut parts – my total roll out value or flat pattern dimension does not come close to the actual sheet size I need for converting the part into a flat *.dwg. Why is this? For example… if I flatten out the image below I may measure short on the actual sheet size needed to phyically make the part. I’ve adjusted k-factor, physical properties and sheet thickness to compensate but I can’t seem to get any consistency to the rollout/flat pattern.
    I’m using SW 2011

    Thanks

I”m running SW 2011… I’m importing a .x_t file, it comes in fully defined, but the inches show in mm and 100x the numeric value. Any suggestions to fix this? I know the real size is 4.11″

Choose inches or mm conform the requirements to units, than use Scale Feature using the right ratio.

When trying to open the file you will see an options button on the open dialog. Hit that and set the units to what you need.

    Rolled edge, round tube.

    Hello.

I’m looking to take some 2-d production drawings to 3d for our company. I’m having troubles creating a rolled edge on the end of round and angle cut exhaust tubing. Suggestions? SW 2008.

I seem to be limited to a rolled edge being only on a flat edge. I’ve tried to reapproach the idea from different angles with no luck.
