Here you go. the secret to gear mate is drawing a sketch with a circle at the pitch diameter on each part. If you rotate the assembly you’ll see that the relative diameters of my circles are clearly wrong, but you get the idea.
P.S. you can also over ride the diameters by manually entering the gear ratio in the mate definition.Attachment – for-tonyd

Another ‘secret’ is to select the axes of the gears. The axes can be either the system generated temporary ones, or manually created. I prefer to use axes manually created from ref planes.
